Apartments of the king, prison, concert venue… Conciergerie Palace

We continue to tell about interesting sights of Paris, which you can visit during your stay in the French capital. Now the object of our attention is the magnificent building located on Ile de la Cité and known as Conciergerie Palais.

Its history dates back to the sixth century when the leader of united tribes of Franks King Clovis moved his main residence in a place that today known as Paris. To be more accurate, for this purpose he chose Cité island. As Clovis was a king so according to this status, he had decided to found the residence (palace) on the island. However, the king did not live here long, because he had died very quickly.

Place des Vosges – the legacy of French sovereigns

In this article we will tell you about one of the most beautiful places in Paris what was called Place des Vosges by the legendary Emperor Napoleon.

Formerly these lands belonged to famous religious Order of Knights Templars, they were presented monks by the King Louis the Ninth, had the name “Marais” (“marsh”), because there was nothing more except marshes.

Cité de la Musique – the world of music for all

The author of the Parisian Cité de la Musique («City of Music”) is the architect Christian de Portzamparc. The complex is located in the heart of the city in the park La Villette. “City of Music” is the international center dedicated to the musical theme. It contains the information about a large number of artists from the world around and their arts. The Center actively collaborates with the concert halls of Europe, so here you can always learn their history, get the information about past and upcoming performances. Among other things Cité de la Musique supports young talents in the music world and organizes the numerous exhibitions with the world-known museums.

Pere-Lachaise cemetery

One of the most famous burial places in the world is Parisian Pere Lachaise cemetery, located on the territory of the 20th administrative district of the French capital. Officially it is called the Eastern cemetery, which is directly related to its location in the eastern part of Paris. This large green tract of land is the biggest in the city and takes about fifty acres and it’s a huge open-air museum of gravestones.

Paris – the grey rose of the European garden

Paris – the grey rose of the European gardenProbably, for someone it will appear news, but Paris is the city most popular with tourists in the world. Annually here come a bigger number of people from different countries, than to such popular tourist centers as London, Athens, Madrid or Berlin.

Someone can tell that it is not surprising, because in capital of France the huge set of the sights known all over the world (Versailles, the Louvre, Tour Eiffel, Arch Triomphe and others) is concentrated. However, it is not absolutely true, as many people visit Paris in search of sentimentality.
